nahro-logoThe National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) is a professional membership organization comprised of approximately 20,000 housing and community development agencies and officials throughout the United States who administer a variety of affordable housing and community development programs at the local level.

housingamericaHousing America is NAHRO’s campaign that aims to raise national awareness of the need for and importance of safe, quality, affordable housing through education, advocacy, and empowerment.

  • Education: The campaign educates the general public about government-funded housing and community development programs. This effort brings clarity and transparency to the programs NAHRO-member agencies administer.
  • Advocacy: Celebrating Housing America Month, which occurs each October, is one way housing and community development program officials advocate for the affordable housing work they do.
  • Empowerment: Housing America’s signature program, the What Home Means to Me national poster contest and calendar, tells the stories of youth living in HUD-assisted housing and empowers them. The Voices for Housing video series also shares resident stories from around the United States. To get involved in the campaign or to learn more, visit the website.
